Cancellations and Refunds | Guests

Sync gives you 24 hours before pickup to cancel for free. Beyond that, there's a simple cancellation fee based on the length of your trip. Here's how it works.

Free cancellation — up to 24 hours before pickup

  • Cancel up to 24 hours before pickup and get a full refund.

  • If you booked less than 24 hours before pickup, you have a 1-hour grace period from booking to cancel for free. Example: book at 10:00 for a 16:00 pickup the same day — free cancellation until 11:00.

Cancellation outside the free window

If you cancel within 24 hours of pickup, you'll be charged a cancellation fee based on trip length:

The following are always refunded in full:

  • All Extras

  • The protection plan

  • Delivery fee

  • Any age- or vehicle-category surcharges

When you're charged

  • If you booked up to 13 days before pickup, payment is captured 2 days before pickup.

  • If you booked 14+ days before pickup, payment is captured 7 days before pickup.

Note: The cancellation window is based on the vehicle's local timezone. If you change your trip dates, the free-cancellation window resets to the new pickup time — but a modification fee may apply. Learn how modification fees are calculated →

Unclean or unsafe vehicle

You'll be fully refunded if the vehicle shows clear issues with cleanliness or safety. To qualify: refuse the vehicle, don't check in, and contact Support immediately with evidence (photos, etc.).

Extenuating circumstances

If you have to cancel due to documented circumstances (illness, flight cancellation, natural disaster, etc.), we may waive the cancellation fee.
