Can I add a protection plan after booking?

Add a protection plan after booking, before your trip starts, right from the trip screen.

You can add protection after booking too

If you booked with "No protection", you're not stuck with it. As long as the trip hasn't started, you can add a protection plan and cover your financial responsibility for any damage to the car.

You do it right from the trip screen, with the card you already have on file.

How to add a protection plan

  1. Open your booking.

  2. Find the "Protection plan" row and tap it.

  3. Look at the available plans and their cost.

  4. Pick the plan you want and confirm.

  5. Your card is charged and the plan is active right away. Your booking updates with the new protection.

Good to know

  • Upgrading is only available before the trip starts, while the booking is in "Booked" status. Once you check in, the plan is locked.

  • You can move up to a plan with more cover. You can't move down or remove a plan you've already paid for.

  • The cost depends on the car and the plan. You'll see the exact amount before you confirm.

You can move up to a plan with more cover, if one is available for the car. You can't downgrade or remove a plan you've already chosen.

I don't see an upgrade option.

The option only shows on bookings that haven't started, and only when a plan is available for that car. If you've already checked in, protection can't change.

When am I charged?

The moment you confirm the upgrade, on the card you have on file.
