Someone booked a car on Sync and wants to add you so you can drive too? The add happens from the account of the person who made the booking, not from yours. Your job is to get your account ready so they can find you and add you.
Here's what's needed from you and what happens once you're added.
⚡ Two things have to be true before they can add you: you need a Sync account, and you need to have completed identity verification. Without both, the add won't go through.
What you need to do
Create a Sync account: If you don't have one, sign up at thesync.com or download the Sync app for iOS or Android. You'll need an email, a mobile number and a password.
Verify your identity: From the Account tab, open driver's license verification and complete it through Veriff. It takes a few minutes and happens entirely in the app.

Give them the email on your account: They add you using the email address linked to your Sync account. Give them exactly that email, otherwise they won't find you.
From there, the add happens on their side. They open the booking, go to Trip Details, tap "Add Driver" and enter your email.
How will I know I've been added?
As soon as they add you, you get an email and a push notification letting you know you're on the trip. From that point, the booking shows up in your own account and you can see its details.
What can I do as an additional driver?
You have access to the trip details and can act on the car:
See dates, vehicle, pickup and return location, and the included kilometers
Do check-in, meaning pick up the car on behalf of the person who booked it
Do check-out, meaning return it
See the messages with the host (read only), the trip policies, and the trip photos
Some actions stay with the person who made the booking. As an additional driver you can't message the host, see the cost, change dates or location, add other drivers, or cancel the trip. If you need any of those changes, ask the person to make them from their account.
Am I covered by protection?
Yes. You're automatically covered by the same protection plan the person chose for the booking. There's no separate coverage to set up and no extra charge for you.
When can I be added?
They can add you while the booking is Booked or Active. That means you can be added even after the trip has started. Once it ends, no further driver changes are possible.
If they can't add you
If they tell you they're getting an error when they try to add you, it's almost always one of these:
"No account found with this email." You haven't signed up yet, or you gave them a different email from the one on your account.
"The user hasn't verified their license." You have an account but didn't finish verification. Complete it and ask them to try again.
"Doesn't meet the age requirement for this vehicle." Some vehicles have a minimum driver age set by the host.
"The license expires before the trip ends." Your driver's license expires before the return date.
If the car changes
If the person switches to a different vehicle through a change request, you don't carry over automatically to the new booking. They'll need to add you again, the same way.
