A valid EU driving licence works everywhere. Non-EU visitors can drive on their home licence for up to 6 months in Greece. If your licence isn't in Latin script (Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Cyrillic), bring an International Driving Permit. Minimum age is 21. Some hosts set 23 or 25 for specific vehicles. Check the listing before booking.
Paros is small and easy to navigate. The main paved road circles most of the island and connects all the major villages. Parikia to Naoussa is 12km, about 20 minutes. Parikia to Golden Beach (Chrysi Akti) on the east coast is 18km, about 25 minutes. Side roads to smaller beaches get narrow and sometimes unpaved in the last stretch. A standard car reaches everywhere you're likely to want to go. Watch for scooters on the main road in summer: they're everywhere and don't always stay in their lane.
No toll roads on Paros. Drive anywhere on the island for free.
Two petrol stations in Parikia and one in Naoussa cover most of the island's needs. Unleaded 95 runs around €1.95-2.20/litre, slightly higher than the mainland due to island logistics. Fill up in Parikia or Naoussa before heading to the east coast or remote beaches. There's no station south of Aliki. Your host hands over the car at a set fuel level. Return it the same way.
Parikia and Naoussa both have free parking just outside the old town areas. The narrow alleys of both villages are mostly pedestrian: park at the edge and walk in. No paid parking zones on the island. At popular beaches like Kolymbithres, Santa Maria, and Golden Beach, parking is free but limited in July and August. Arrive before 10am or expect a 10-15 minute walk from wherever you find a spot on the roadside.
Paros is one of the best-connected islands in the Cyclades. The main port in Parikia has daily connections to Piraeus (4-5 hours by fast ferry, 6-8 hours by regular), Rafina (3-4 hours), Naxos (45 minutes), Mykonos (1.5 hours), and Santorini (2-3 hours). You can take your Sync car on any ferry and travel anywhere in Greece. Car spaces fill fast in summer, especially on the Piraeus and Rafina routes. Book well in advance. The port is right in the center of Parikia.
Most Sync hosts in Paros deliver to the Parikia ferry port, your hotel, or any address on the island. If you're flying in on a flight from Athens, you can arrange pickup at Paros Airport (PAS), about 10km from Parikia. Agree on the time and address when you book. Your host will confirm before arrival.
