Most people do within the first hour, and a good number prefer it afterwards. The thing that decides it is seating position: if you sit high and the wheel blocks the dials, lower the wheel rather than the seat. If it still does not work for you, the 2008 and 3008 place the instruments higher and suit taller drivers better.
Diesel if the week has motorway in it, petrol if it does not. A 308 diesel on an Athens to Kalamata and back trip will use noticeably less fuel and feel calmer doing it. For a week spent inside one city, a petrol 208 is the better tool and avoids the short-journey problem diesels have.
It depends on the roads, not the badge. If you are staying on asphalt, the hatchbacks drive better and cost less. If your week includes village roads, an unpaved track down to a beach, or passengers who find low seats hard to get out of, the extra ground clearance and ride height are worth the difference.
