Hyundai sold hard in Greece through the last decade on a simple trade: the same money bought a newer car with more equipment than the European brands offered. That shows up on Sync as listings that are often two or three years younger than rivals at the same daily price, with reversing cameras, lane assist and Apple CarPlay as standard rather than options. The i30 and Tucson are the distance cars of the range and both are quiet enough that a four-hour drive passes without effort. The i10 and i20 are city cars that will manage a motorway but sit noisier at 120 than a Golf would. Hybrid and diesel versions of the Tucson exist on the platform and are the ones to prefer if the week is long. Check the daily kilometre allowance on the listing before committing to a big route.
Daily prices sit in the middle of the platform and fuel use is unremarkable in a good way: around 5.5 litres per 100km for a petrol i20 in town, and better for the diesels and hybrids on the open road. The real saving is indirect. Because these cars are newer than their price suggests, they are less likely to have the small annoyances that make a cheap booking feel cheap, and that shows up as fewer problems rather than fewer euros.
This is the brand where equipment arrives as standard rather than as a tick box. Even mid-range i20 and i30 cars usually have a reversing camera, cruise control, a touchscreen with CarPlay and Android Auto, and heated mirrors. The interiors use harder plastics than a Volkswagen and the driving experience is neutral rather than engaging, which is the trade. For a week of getting places, the equipment matters more than the material.
Equipment is the thing a rental category never tells you. Two cars in the same "compact" bucket can differ by a reversing camera, cruise control and phone mirroring, and on a week of unfamiliar roads those are not small differences. On Sync the host's photos show you the actual dashboard and the listing states the year. Many hosts can deliver the car to an address you choose for a set fee, you pay by card, and no deposit is held.
The i10 is the smallest, a genuine city car that parks in gaps others pass by. The i20 is the everyday choice, well equipped for its price and the most common Hyundai on the platform. Lane-keeping assist is standard on many of these cars and will tug at the wheel on narrow roads with faded markings, which is most of rural Greece: it can be switched off, usually with a button on the wheel or a steering-wheel icon in the menu.

The plastics are harder and the doors sound lighter, and you notice that in the first minute. What you notice for the rest of the week is the equipment, and there the comparison usually runs the other way: a Hyundai at a given price tends to have the camera, the cruise control and the phone mirroring that a same-price European car does not.
i20 for a city week and two people, i30 for anything with distance or luggage in it. The i20 is easier to park and cheaper per day. The i30 has a boot that takes two large cases properly, more rear legroom, and it is noticeably calmer at motorway speed, which is the difference you feel on an Athens to Thessaloniki run.
If you are carrying people and luggage together, or driving village and mountain roads, yes. The higher seating position and ground clearance are genuinely useful outside cities, and the boot is a step up. If your week is asphalt and parking, the i30 drives better, costs less per day and is easier to place in a tight space.
On most of these cars there is a button on the steering wheel with a lane icon, or a driver-assistance menu on the touchscreen. It is worth doing before you set off onto rural roads, where faded or missing markings make the system tug at the wheel. The setting usually resets each time the car is started, so you may need to repeat it.
