Check the listing before booking.
Drama is well-connected to the Egnatia Odos (A2) motorway to the south, linking it to Kavala (40km, about 35 minutes) and Thessaloniki (170km, about 1.5 hours). The city itself is flat and easy to navigate. For the surrounding area: the road to the Aggitis Cave (Maaras cave) at Prosotsani is about 17km west of Drama, well-paved and straightforward. The road up to the Falakro ski resort climbs steeply from the village of Ag. Athanasios: paved all the way to the base station but snow chains may be required in winter. The road to Nevrokopi plateau in the north goes through mountain terrain, fully paved. In winter, always check road conditions before heading into the mountains around Drama.
The Egnatia Odos has tolls. Drama to Kavala costs around €2-3. Drama to Thessaloniki costs roughly €7-10 in total. Within the city and on local roads to the cave, Falakro, or Nevrokopi, there are no tolls.
Good fuel availability in Drama city. Unleaded 95 around €1.85-2.00/litre. Fill up in the city before heading into the mountains toward Falakro or Nevrokopi, as stations are sparse higher up. Your host hands over the car at a set fuel level. Return it the same way.
Drama city center has paid parking zones around the main square, around €0.80-1/hour. Free parking is available a few blocks from the center without difficulty. At the Aggitis Cave entrance, there is a free car park. At Falakro ski resort, free parking at the base station. In mountain villages around Drama, parking is informal and free.
Drama is an inland city with no ferry connection. The nearest ferry port is Kavala, about 40km south (35 minutes by car), with connections to Thassos (frequent, 35-90 minutes depending on departure point) and Samothraki (seasonal). You can take your Sync car on any ferry from Kavala. Check schedules at Kavala port for current timetables.
Most Sync hosts deliver to your hotel or any address in the city. Drama has no commercial airport of its own. If you're flying in, the nearest airport is Kavala International Airport "Alexander the Great" (KVA), about 40km south near Chrysoupoli: your host can arrange pickup there, or you can travel the 40 minutes to Drama and receive the car at your accommodation. If you're arriving by bus, Drama has a central KTEL station and your host can meet you there. Agree on the time and location when you book.
