For Hosts

Write a description that makes your car stand out on Sync

Your car’s description is the first thing someone reads after looking at the photos — and it’s often what decides whether they hit "Book" or keep scrolling. Think of it as your first conversation with the Guest: you want to be clear and welcoming, and to give the immediate impression that you know what you’re doing.

On Sync, we give you a ready-made description template, available in both Greek and English, that covers the basics and that you can use straight away in your listing. It’s a very good starting point, but we encourage you to add your own “flavour” — because a template can get you in the game, but your personal touch is what wins you bookings.

Let’s look at how to do that. 👇

1. Answer the questions before they’re even asked

Sync’s support team sees the same messages from Guests every day: “How many seats does it have?”, “Will our suitcases fit?”, “Is it automatic?”. If this information is already in your description, you save time for both yourself and the Guest — and you come across as a professional who has thought of everything.

What to always include:

- Seats & doors — It sounds basic, but many Hosts leave it out, especially those renting small cars that travellers look for as couples or families.
- Transmission — Automatic or manual? For tourists from countries where automatic is standard (USA, Canada, UK), this is a deal-breaker.
- Luggage space — Especially if the car is small, say how many suitcases realistically fit, because a tourist arriving at the airport with two large suitcases doesn’t want surprises.
- Cleanliness & smoking — State clearly whether the car is non-smoking and what you expect in terms of cleanliness when it’s returned.
- What’s available in the car — USB ports, Bluetooth, Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, reversing camera, GPS. These “little things” make a big difference to a traveller’s experience.

---

2. Make the most of the tools Sync gives you

The description isn’t just text — it’s a chance to highlight the advantages the platform offers you and to give Guests even more reasons to choose you.

- Door-to-door delivery — If you deliver the car to the airport, a hotel or a spot of the Guest’s choosing, say so! This is a huge advantage over traditional rent-a-car companies that make you go to their “office”. Specify which areas you deliver to and whether there’s a charge.
- Remote unlocking— If your car supports Sync Plus (2019+ models), mention it in the description. The Guest can unlock the car directly from the app without you having to meet — which means flexible pick-up times and zero waiting.
- Weekly / monthly rental discounts — If you offer a weekly or monthly discount, the description is the ideal place to mention it, because many tourists look for longer rentals, especially on the islands.
- Extras — Child seat, cooler box, phone charger, Wi-Fi hotspot? If you offer something extra, the description is the place to “sell” it.

---

3. Think like a tourist (and like a local)

Your audience on Sync is twofold: tourists visiting Greece (looking for something better than the “similar” car of a traditional rent-a-car) and Greeks who need a car for specific occasions. Your description needs to speak to both.

For tourists:

- If your car is ideal for particular road trips (e.g. Athens–Nafplio, a tour of Crete, the beaches of Milos), say so! A sentence like “Perfect for island-hopping around the Cyclades or exploring the Athenian Riviera” turns a plain description into an invitation.
- Write your description in English too — it dramatically increases your bookings from overseas visitors. The template we provide is already bilingual, so make sure you enrich both versions.
- Mention whether you speak English (or other languages) — it makes a huge difference to a foreign tourist’s comfort level.

For Greeks:

- If the car is suitable for moving house, day trips or weekend getaways, say so.
- Mention whether there’s an e-pass toll tag or whether the Guest needs cash for tolls.

---

4. Don’t publish personal details

It may seem like a good idea to put your phone number in the description to “make things easier” for the Guest, but don’t. Communicating through the Sync platform protects both you and the Guest — there’s a chat history, we step in to mediate if needed, and your data stays safe.

Avoid publishing:

- Your phone number or email
- Social media profiles
- The exact address where the car is parked

As soon as the booking is made, the platform connects you automatically and you can arrange all the details through the chat.

---

5. Add personality — your car isn’t just “another listing”

This is where the Hosts who really do well stand out. A dry, technical text along the lines of “White, 5-seater, petrol, 2020” doesn’t make anyone want to rent — not even if the price is excellent.

What you can do:

- Give the car a name — It sounds silly, but it works. “Meet Markos, the Fiat 500 that will make you fall in love with the backstreets of Athens” is memorable. You don’t need to be a comedian, but a bit of character makes the difference.
- Tell a short story — Why did you buy this car? What do you like about it? “I bought it because I always wanted something that could go anywhere without worrying about dirt roads on the islands” gives context and creates a connection.
- Suggest experiences — “Ideal for a sunset drive along Poseidonos Avenue”, “We did the Heraklion–Chania road trip in it and it was perfect on the bends” — the Guest isn’t just renting a car, they’re renting an experience.
- Mention the highlights — Panoramic roof? Leather seats? A sound system that makes you feel like you’re at a concert? These features sell, especially on a platform like Sync, where the Guest chooses the exact model they want.

---

6. Do a final self-check

Before you hit “Save”, ask yourself:

- If I were a tourist who had just arrived in Greece, would I know everything I need about this car?
- If I were a Greek looking for a car for a long weekend, would this description convince me to choose it over a competitor?
- Does my description stand out, or does it look like copy-paste?

If the answer to the last question bothers you, go back to the template we give you, keep the structure, and replace the generic parts with your own voice, your own experiences and your car’s unique features.

---

Your description is your shop window on Sync — the closest thing to a first handshake with the Guest. Spend 15 minutes getting it right, and you’ll see the difference in your bookings.
